This August, spend time together with friends and family over a private picnic, glass of wine and movie under the stars at Fort Canning Park, one of Singapore’s historic landmarks.

Guests are allowed to bring their own picnic food. However, this doesn’t apply to alcohol. Alternatively, you can also grab your fix from on-site food and beverage providers while soaking up tunes by DJs and instrumentalists before the film starts—some of this year’s gourmet food and wine providers include Casillero del Diablo and The Providore.

Over the years, the independent cinema has hosted a number of film festivals such as the Middle East, Swedish and Polish Film Festival and is popular for their especially curation of films including foreign, arthouse and local flicks.

The Screening Room works differently from other cinemas on the list—they don’t sell tickets for the movies. Instead, you have to spend $15 on food and beverages per person to enjoy a seat. (You do however have to indicate your interest in advance online to reserve a spot!)

Movies are entertaining, emotional, dynamic, and use real dialogue—which makes it a great tool to learn a foreign language!

Fall in love with the French language through French movie screenings at Alliance Française. All movies come with English subtitles and new titles including classic French films and recent releases are added every month.

Most movies are screened on Tuesdays—with the exception of Ciné Kids that shows a curation of family-friendly flicks on Sunday afternoons.
